Farmer Giles of Ham was a great read between the grumpy characters, intentionally preposterous "translator", and the insistence that it is all true with explanations for how modern day locations came by their names.

It is wild that a story written for his children about a lost toy is still distinctively the same style perfected for older audiences in his later works.
