His reasoning was sound too, most countries in the world are either landlocked or only have a little bit of coast land. The countries that have a lot of coast land often lack the natural resources to build ships...it's true. HIs logic still stands.

On the other hand, he did point out something very true he said "Ship building is America's greatest pride, and in which, she will in time excel the whole world."
He was right. America does make the best ships, even space ships.

It's rather amusing that Paine has spent the last two pages saying the English navy isn't worth much because it only cost 3,500,000 pounds, and then he says as an incentive to America building a navy that "A navy when finished is worth more than it cost."
