At which point we conclude Book 1 with Clyde lucky to be alive and free. I knew some calamity was in the offing and I was right. The question now is, will this situation come back later to haunt Clyde?

Clyde has more experiences and adventures with coworkers and girls feeling superior to them but craving experiences.

Wherein our boy Clyde gets a taste of money, boyish comradarie, and booze, and we see some of his true nature. This is foreshadowing, readers. An American Tragedy was published 100 years ago but its themes are eternal, man's never-changing nature.

Oh yes. This is good. Excellent, even. This book ticks several boxes: classic, on my tbr forever, and based on true crime. If you have seen the movie A Place in the Sun, you're familiar with this tale. If not, then what are you waiting for? Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Cliff at peak beauty and power.
