‘Have you heard about how unmarried police officers volunteer for dangerous jobs and such? […] I think the idea is that fewer people will suffer that way, if anything happens to the volunteer. But then, that’s saying that the lives of people who aren’t loved are worth less than the lives of people who are. […] It’s like in the films. Someone is about to be killed, and they start talking about their spouse or their family, begging to be spared. So, if they didn’t have anyone, no family, no partner, does that mean it’d be all right to kill them?
　‘If we all have the same rights, when it’s time to choose someone to sacrifice, is it the one who’s least loved that gets picked?
　‘It’s like some kind of death game from a manga. You know, they have these games where people who aren’t smart or strong enough get eliminated and die. Isn’t it just as cruel to decide that people who aren’t as loved have to die?’
