Just read the chapter on our environment. It covered the positive effects of nature 🍃, awe-inspiring experiences, and creating order within our surroundings (this one reminded me of people who clean when they’re stressed 🤣). This chapter definitely felt relatable and very applicable to real life. It’s cool to see scientific findings for all these things that we inherently know from all the studies.

Found self-talk distancing really interesting! Definitely something I use already and am even sometimes conscious of. Discovering how quick and effective it is has definitely highlighted it to me as a great technique when I’m at the peak of my overthinking spiral.

It’s making me realise I already know a lot of distancing techniques to reduce ‘chatter’, yet like the author (and probably everyone at some points) I can’t always get out of my head.
Some things the book reminded me of as well as taught me:
- ‘Fly on the wall’ perspective (looking at my personal situation from a bystander perspective)
- Temporal distancing (How will I feel about this in the future?)
