I've put my finger on the problem with this collection: it feels like Stephen King trying too hard to be King. He's playing to the crowd and ripping himself off; these novellas cannibalize what worked in his earlier stuff, with diminishing results.

Regardless, on to "The Sun Dog"....

Finally finished with "The Library Policeman" and would give it a low 3 stars.

Two stories down, two to go. I would give The Langoliers three stars and Secret Window, Secret Garden four.
