Betonie was able to help Tayou by leading him into this great ceremony of finding Josiah's cattle. A major revelation Tayo has is when he realizes that he also believes the lie that only the brown people steal, because the white men can afford everything anyway. The reality is that these White men were first to steal the land of the Natice Americans; its all the white men's fault.

Ceremony began with Tayo's mental problems. Then it really began to pick up the pace when it began to devulge in Tayo's background. The details on his family's issues with the other races plays a major role in Tayo's life because he is of mixed race.

As the story progesses into Tayo's family history we discover that majority of his family are deceased, and those that remain living: his Grandma, Auntie, and Uncle, are not the most supportive/helpful group. For the shame of his mother's actions with a white man were always frowned upon by his Auntie and used to provoke him by Emo. Emo, and Harley are also newly introduced characters that fought in the war with him.

The diction portrays such vivid panic and craziness. While reading this I felt a pinching, and stress that the main character was feeling. It's strength in imagery helps make the symbolism of the the novel become more evident; all reference to the animals reval a sense of groundedness.
