I'm gonna be honest, I started this book as a moral imperative owing to being filipino and all. While the prose isn't interesting, and sometimes I find the structuring a bit clunky and meandering. I am fully engrossed in the story of this book. Bulosan was a first generation immigrant like me, and if I was born in his time would I have went through the same hardship as he wrote here?
