Charles Guiteau is obviously crazy, so it’s almost easier to process that he shot the president than the fact that those doctors stuck their nasty, germy fingers into the bullet home, which introduced the infection that actually killed Garfield. Reading that section about the floor of the train station made me nauseous 🤢
