With Allende being such a talented respected writer there are a lot of lists on line ranking Allende's top 10 (or top 8 or top 7) books. The lists have two things in common - The House of Spirits is always #1. & this book never appears - & I'm beginning to see why!
I'll give it one more try today & if it doesn't pick up for me it will be my first DNF of the year.
