In the book Luis tells us how gangs started. He talks about how drug trades started in gangs. He says the drug trade became the mainstay of economical life for many communities. In this chapter he also mentions that he has met with some members of a gang.

In this chapter Luis visits Los Angeles County Hall of Justice jail. When Luis visited this jail it brought back so many memories for him, he talks about how he was too young to be in an adult facility so they put him in this jail. He tells us about how there was this guy named Charles Manson in a cell next to him. Charles was accused of murder, A sheriffs deputy called that cell row "murderers row" including Luis.
