I'm in the third book now and I still love the story and characters. Both are simpler and simply nicer than modern day grimdark fantasy - but that is exactly what I like about the whole saga.
What I do not like is how women are portrayed and that they are basically just plot devices and/or extremely flat characters. I'm not certain if this saga would pass the Bechdel-Wallace-Test. ^^

This is uncomplicated, nice epic fantasy. Sadly, there are very few women in it so far. Oh well, old school.

I love how down to earth this all his. The characters act reasonable and relatable. No over-the-top emotional nonsense, just a slow-paced story unfolding beautifully.
