This book probably would have been more interesting if it followed the older son once he left, seeing a rebellion from the pov of a mother staying in her house with her kids acting out very slightly isn’t exactly a riveting concept

I didn’t think I cared that much about imagery or descriptions until there were none. ‘She wakes up to the sound of war’, alright that’s chill sure.

Ugh her kids are annoying shits and whenever the daughter stands up for the mother, the mother treats her like shit. Typical Irish bollix dynamics with Irish mothers and their shithead sons

I want to love this but so far it’s a bit slow and domestic considering it’s a police state situation, I hope it picks up but bit of a drag so far. Characters are whatever and have gotten used to the way it’s written now but still don’t love it.

Why so confusing and hard to read? Ever heard of inverted commas and letting us know who said what.. other than that, a dystopian police state set in the city I was born in and live in now again, pretty cool. Feels like something they’ll do in the junior or leaving cert in a few years
