I've seen the photo of Inez Mulholland on the white horse wearing the white cape but I did not know the story surrounding it. However, I am not surprised that women were beaten/spit on by violent groups of men as police did nothing but Boy Scouts did. Sad to learn that her and others of the time did not fight for black women or women of color to vote whether it was out of placating white men or downright racism.
