I'm ready to give up on this book. One page, the writing is good, the next it's God awful. It's overwrought with useless paragraphs meant to show off more than to inform. The detective is a "maddeningly handsome" narcissist full of self-pity and guilt. I dont know how he'll ever solve a crime when he spends so much time wallowing in his own sensitivity.
It could be a decent crime novel if it had a decent editor.
