This book is really more about the aesthetic than the story or characters. It’s about a certain vibe that at the time was revolutionary. I think this book would be better the second time, the familiarity with characters and plot will allow you to enjoy the setting more. If you keep in mind how revolutionary this was, it’s a fun read.
