Is this book profound? Probably not. But I am having a most excellent time. Thus far, this is exactly what I want in a fantasy to be.

“yews don’t break they bend”. This is accurate yew trees are known for their flexibility used to make bows or whatever, so 👏. But also, how long has she been sitting on that line?

I want to pick up this duology this year! I’ve heard good things about Rachel Gillig.

I’ve been pleased! I kind of worried going in that she was going to be one of these overhyped authors that fell flat for me. However, I have few complaints and have even been enjoying it?
I understand, she’s definitely been up there with some of those other widely popular fantasy romance authors. I’m glad that she is (mostly) living up to the hype! I like a lot of gothic fiction and I’m hoping this duology fits that darker aesthetic/theme well.
Definitely has some of that. The weather is perpetually foggy if nothing else
