In Water, a woman experienced loss which can maybe be seen as losing her fire and retreating to a very small piece of earth. Water helps her heal.
In Earth, the victim escapes an island where he’s a prisoner and becomes the accomplice to a heinous sexual crime. The fact that he lacks the fuel for his "fire" (painting) and is forced to use his feet (on earth) to "make it" in the world leaves him a broken young man
