“We prefer to do things comfortably"
“People are happy; they get what they want, and they never want what they can’t get. They’re well off; they’re safe; they’re never ill; they’re not afraid of death; they’re blissfully ignorant of passion and old age; they’re plagued by no mothers or fathers"
"And if ever anything should go wrong, there’s soma"
“Science is dangerous. We have to keep it most carefully chained"

John’s death isn’t a victory for suffering or comfort - it’s the cost of a world that chose happiness over humanity...

Linda's room:
Death conditioning isn’t about accepting death, it’s about eliminating the emotional cost of caring that someone existed.
I can't stop thinking that The World State fears grief because grief creates attachment, depth, and independence -and those things make people unmanageable. People who are attached, reflective, recognize emotions, become impossible to control.
Is John "safe" because he is alone?

And when I thought it can't be worse... Here it is - another cruelty of the "perfect brave new world"... I just can't understand why they allowed John the Savage to live there!
He becomes a living contradiction the system doesn’t know what to do with. It's obvious that John is not brought in to belong. He is brought in to test, expose, and entertain. This is a great example of how their society "values" human lives..

Bizarre...
Those "new civilized" humans have no emotional experience at all... Whatever happens - they just eat drugs and call it a way to process things...
No reflection, no thoughts, no emotional closeness, no self awareness: orgy-porgy, "everyone belongs to everyone", coded behavior, forced understanding of things, nothing personal or real.
And at some point someone actually decided that this is a way to be??!

This is totally insane... 🤯 So hard to go with the book, since cannot relate and all the time have to go back to the previous chapter. Just can't wrap my head around this 🤯🤯🤯

Omg, this is wild... When I figured that the factory they are describing is for... making humans, my mind exploded and I started to listen all over . First few pages and my eyes are opened wide and a thought "I hope something like this will never happens" 🙈
