I last read this book was 2010. I was 25. Back then, I read The Road as a “Fallout” like novel. Post apocalyptic, long trek, scavenging for goods. Reading the novel now — currently 40 — is a completely different experience. I’m more aware of what’s going on in the world. I understand life’s fragility. This book is depressing. Not heartbreaking but monochromatic. A week old pile of lifeless ash.
