Entering the final setting for this book, things are so strange. Right before this we learned SO MUCH about the future and Hadrian experiencing these visions, about his fate and the Quiet. Returning to fight the Cielcin is a surreal thing. I'm hoping to be wowed by the end of this book, but I feel like the peak has already been reached. We Shall See.

I find it infinitely hilarious that the evil artificial intelligence that had conquered Old (original) Earth are called the "Mericanii" and it's revealed here that they're literally just America. The final president of America on his deathbed, gave his presidency to a coterie of hyper intelligent AI who then enslaved America is hitting too close to home right now.

I am in stunned silence. I had no clue this book would be such A MYSTERY.

Love reading ON PLANES! Just the perfect environment to totally focus. Demon in White set the stakes astronomically high this go around, starting off with the EMPEROR OF THE UNIVERSE saddling his son with Hadrian to go on a wild goose chase for a missing supply ship. Totally beneath Hadrian's abilities, and hanging a humongous sword over his head.
