Whenever I read a book about Europe during the WW2 era I always think about family in Magdeburg. They would have fought in the Luftwaffe or Heer or perhaps were sailors on German ships and submarines. And blood family would have been in the USN or RCAF opposing them.
I don’t know the whole story but there was correspondence from them after the war. That ended once the Wall went up in 1961. Permanently.
