Oh hey, it almost slipped my mind because, you know, the world is disintegrating before our very eyes, but today is James Joyce's birthday. Happy birthday, Jamesy! I'm going to read some Wake - a language as of yet untainted by these times.

So, Tavernry opens with that amazing description of the radio in the bar, right? I just visited the Stuart Davis exhibit at the National Gallery and snapped a photo of his painting "still life : radio tube" - seems pretty much a visual analog of Joyce's description:
