On page 103, I'm currently reading about the transition from Junius to Pierpont as the main presence in the Morgan's company. Although Junius kept strict watch on Pierpont's actions, Pierpont came to dominance in the American banking world through his own decisive actions. With the massive railroad speculation, Pierpont was able to capitalize on key opportunities that allowed him to expand his banking dynasty.

Albeit a difficult read, this book interestingly explains the rise of the Morgan banking company, with roots right before the Civil War. Currently reading about how Junius has controlled the bank and the role Pierpont, Junius's son, played in helping the bank make a presence. You would've expected the Morgans to have pursued risky opportunities to achieve their elite status; however, Junius has stressed cautious ways
