Mr.Boldwood proposes to Bathsheba, and it's the first time they speak. It has been 3 months since he fell in love with her. Is the romance always so quick in the 19th century novels?

What?! The novel was published in 1874.

That was quick! Gabriel watched Bathseba milk a cow for several weeks, she saved him when he almost suffocated in his hut - and he already proposes to her! It's your second conversation with a girl, and you propose! How come that be?

Oh those long sentences! Don't tell me reading history is hard. This is harder!
