I googled "What are the conventions of a literary horror novel?" This book has all 8 that came up! I am not a regular horror reader but now I can see the craft on display here. So far I have taken my time w. this story; I've been careful to look up places, people, & historical events. I've noted themes, motifs, & repeated language. It's exciting to be at the culmination point of all these elements as they unfold.
