The idea of fundamentalism, then, is the idea that the gospel forms the boundary of Christian fellowship. The gospel is defined by the fundamentals: to deny a fundamental is to deny the gospel itself. Consequently, no Christian fellowship can be entertained with those who (like theological liberals) deny one or more fundamental doctrines. p386

We might say they had a desire to be "relevant." Will we ever learn?
