It takes a little while to get used to the writing style, but that is exactly what makes the book special. The history of Hungary is beautifully described and brings back the stories I have heard in my own family.

One scene in the book really bothered me: the fictional rape and the outdated idea that women invent such accusations.

Otherwise, it is a beautiful book that I would not have minded being even longer.
