I got defensive of disco bc I KNOW that at some point it became the genre that was associated with mainstream, with dance, with mindless aesthetics and with consumerism. And YET it comes from queer expression, from Joy, formulates new fashions, becomes the foundation of new technologies in music, and the foundation of clubbing music in the future. I appreciate the acknowledgement that multiple truths can coexist
