Maybe it’s my obsession with Heated Rivalry talking but just ended the part in this book where it talks about Chekhov literally getting invited to Tolstoys cottage for a swim. And then Chekhov wrote about how much he admired Tolstoy but Tolstoy never knew until Chekhov DIED and wrote “I never knew he loved me so much”
