I don't like the developing premise of "Testaments" but the prose is sophisticated.

I don't care for the angel stories. But that's because as a practicing Christian, I have some quiet beliefs about angels. Makes it harder for me to suspend my disbelief because I am so picky.

"That Which Rises Ever Upward" is a beautiful, slow, sad tragedy.

"The Temptation of Eustace Prudence McAllen" is extremely well written. It's also one of the most US western frontier esque stories I have ever read.

I am reading "The Temptation of Eustace Prudence McAllen" , set around 1860s or so out in the US western frontier. The text mentions that a character might have been Southern. Took me like two rereads to figure out that the narrator meant that he may have fought for the Confederate Army in the Civil War.

This might be the first African woman mad scientist I have ever seen in fiction. And I do mean African, not African-American.
