really appreciating the piper segments more on the reread. her memories of her dad, her inner turmoil.

i find it really interesting how all 3 kids have a chip in their shoulder, you don't know this about jason yet ofc but they all have a motivation to sort of doubt the quest's validity. very fun

i know she's an accurate representation of a type of teen, and she's a good foil to piper's understanding of aphrodite, and i can already feel the foreshadowing of a sick piper vs drew duel later on, but she's so freakin annoying i wanna SHAKE HER

also i forgot how interesting jason is! i really enjoy all these questions about what his identity could be if he doesn't remember, and the deconstruction of someone who looks SO perfect on the outside feeling SO fraught within. not really something we saw with percy who made things look effortless by Not thinking lmao

I honestly really enjoy the more leisurely pace of these books thus far, I really like how much space we have to sit with each of the characters and learn more about them. that backstory segment with piper's dad was so atmospheric and i loved the moody tone

omgomgomg hype!!! noticing immediately that I like it a lot more as an adult, I'm not very far yet but I really feel for Jason and I REALLY feel for Piper lol. Piper and Leo are such good characters, I'm really excited to see more of them. That opening rocks, the grand canyon, the glass viewing platform, so cool
