The thing about Becky Chambers that makes me nuts is: the writing itself is fine.
The writing is arguably good.
But Chambers is writing predominantly scifi.
And if your foundational science in your science fiction is inaccurate and those inaccuracies are not firmly established as part of the world you're writing, it drags the entire experience of the story down.

Idk man I think that kind of overthinking about the ecological impact of 4 guys is reflective of American individualism more than anything else
Like how recycling IS good, but it's not going to save the planet because you as an individual cannot counteract the ecological impact of the US Military
