It might not have been as plot filled or exciting compared to other books but there was something about it that hooks you and leaves you wanting more. And that was so refreshing tbh. The characters felt real and relatable and as a teen…I kinda- I wouldn’t say felt seen but kinda? Idk I’m yapping too much. ⚠️PONYBOY MENTION⚠️

I will say the ending was an experience. This book was- I don’t even know what it was about it was just amazing. My emotions felt in-tuned with those of Byron. Woah I sound poetic. anyway- I think this and the outsiders are rlly important books that should be read all over. I might reread the ending forever. It’s different than other books I’ve read recently. It feels more…weighty? If that makes sense

S.E Hinton has a way of writing that makes me feel exactly how the character is feeling in that moment. Maybe the numbness of Byron in the end perfectly paralleled my own internal semi numbness in a way that I couldn’t be surprised with anything that had happened. S.E Hinton somehow gets into the mind of a teen in a way I’ve never seen. Truly they don’t make books like this anymore.
