Agree the majority of teachings both testaments are to help the poor & stranger. A few verses likely taken out of context, but mostly good. Been thinking about anti-universal healthcare, hate against immigrants, and arguments here makes sense. Jesus wanted everyone healed and to have what needed, and didn’t check/regard anything about them before he helped or healed. Christ followers aren’t doing their part.

- No issues with immigration talk ch. 8, minus need to see why saying census of Caesar didn’t occur
- Mark 12:17 (earlier Matt. 25 cited too) say to lay what is Caesar’s, but doesn’t speak about supporting gov’t redistribution

Final abortion thoughts:
God’s OT destruction of women/children is result of unrepentant sin, not that He hates them, so not valid argument against abortion. Idea of an “age of accountability” would “cover” what happens to innocent children (and natural abortions)—though death still not God’s preferred plan, but result of man’s free will. Difference in forced abortion vs. natural.

From maybe earlier in chapter 5: lots of nit-picking about creation account, like how did God make plants after light. But God made light first, then contained it in various forms on day 4, and if you do believe in a literal-day creation, the plants from day 3 would be fine until specific light sources arrive day 4 (nevermind the “light” already there from day 1).

Ch 5 LGBTQ, Ch 6 abortion
Just lots of calling out what Jesus did or didn’t say to support an issue, but then ignoring what he didn’t or did say related to the opposing view. But not that all his points are invalid.
Comparing the love/oaths Ruth made to Naomi related to LGBTQ just…that was unnecessary.
Also, all his rabbi/pastor sources aren’t great (Desimber Rose).

Many good thoughts, not carried consistently across the board. Christianity’s misapplication of certain passages to certain topics doesn’t negate passages clearly supporting certain ideas. Just bc Jesus heals someone doesn’t mean he condones their lifestyle—in most cases admonition to “leave your life of sin” is included. He stretches possible interpretations of words for LGBTQ evidence: David/Jonathan?

Author notes fetuses are never treated as people in Bible, based on attempted burning of Tamar… But he has also pointed out that Bible describes events without necessarily commending/denouncing, so don’t feel that assessment is necessarily accurate; need to research general topic still. This is also why Judah isn’t outright condemned; ministers don’t need to applaud Tamar bc still wasn’t “good.”

There are some missing pieces and over-analysis:
- Rules about women during cycles had health in mind, and Jews went for women’s rights before Christians bc they don’t accept the NT, which decries women pastors.
- There are a lot of laws that Jesus doesn’t restate, but that he doesn’t knock down either.
- Need to research history of marriage…explained used to be man-man business contract.

key component: Paul is not Jesus and his goals were different – missing the fact that God called Paul and had specific work for him to do in establishing the church which Jesus mentions end of Matthew…”only Paul speaks against women and LGBTQ+”…also says Paul’s teaching ultimate led to crusades, Christian nationalism, etc. Forgets P doesn’t say to persecute and Jesus doesn’t address those topics.

I don’t think Matthew 25 is in reference to setting borders in reference to immigration, but you could certainly argue we should care for immigrants off it.

Interesting about opposing legal death penalty (against woman taken in adultery).
