Reading this for a bookclub and heavily annotating it on Kindle. It's interesting seeing all the highlights on my private Goodreads. I do think annotating this book is making me read it way differently on the second way through. I read some reviews on the book prior and I'm seeing how much I agree with them.

Not to be confused with Babel, which I read last week...

Really good book. I liked the first half way more than the second, there's a big tone and theme shift that is well done but it feels like a book 1 and book 2 and book 1 is more interesting to me. Book 1 is somehow 200 pages of menial life and confusion that are incredibly fun to read. The characters are well done and I love the linguistic basis, even if there's some weak usage of it at times.

Finally reading again. Classes have been a lot of my time...
