notes so far-such an intriguing premise but quickly turns disappointing before chapter 2. citations missing in places that desperately needed them. so much is attributed to human psychology that could be better explained by sociology. so much bioessentialism and especially with gender it reads like those alpha male podcasts its so eyeroll. have to suspend your disbelief so hard to get through this. 1/?

3/3 claims men are biologically attracted to (young, hairless, and "physical attractive") women due to a natural desire to procreate (many offspring), when these features were not always the standard (or presently, in other cultures) and are a product of eurocentricism/genderroles/classism and actually the current standard is quite recent. e.g. historically women are hairy.

2/? assigning human traits to animals to prove that they are instinctual, but they can be better explained by social dynamics present in both communities, eg. "females of many species, including women, are hostile toward the advances of lesser males but attracted to dominant males" <- actual quote from book. well is it possible for them to be more hostile towards dominant males? what social hierarchies are in place?
