this book would have been 4 stars if last chapter didn’t exist. im genuinely so mad about the ending that i regret picking it up. not to compare, (compares anyway) but the ending of normal people was beautiful to me because of the ambiguity to it all, and the sense it could never end happily. here, rooney goes for the “happy” ending but actually ruins everything with a single line, protagonist learned nothing.
