I need to read up on him more, but from what Chadwick recounts here, I have 0 sympathy for Cyril. He seems to be just as borderline heretical as Nestorius and obsessed with his own power. I think that Nestorius was right to insist that Mary be both θεοτοκος AND ανθρωποτοκος, but Cyril had given into unbiblical Marian devotion and used it to slander him. What a shame.
