honestly, the more I'm reading this, the more I'm getting annoyed at a seemingly idealized version of red states/cities. Yes, there are great queer spaces and queer individuals fighting for better rights in the South, but its also incredibly antagonistic. People are closely-knit because they are trying to survive with a government that wants them to die.

I am enjoying this but this current chapter is getting too anti-big city for me
