in these last 20 pages it was very clear that, although he is a very good writer, stefan zweig was not very socially conscious. his comments on the poorer classes, his generalisations on viennese society (which most of the time only apply to the bourgeoisie), and his observations on women are just blatantly wrong. he’s not directly sexist or classist, just wrong.
