Natalie Ooh let me know what you think! Lilje Damselfly has been compared to it.

Neither book is even remotely similar from what I have read so far. It would be like saying Titanic and Django Unchained are comparable films just because Leonardo DiCaprio appears in them.

The peppered boricua Spanish is quite prominent in the text, so I definitely agree the book is clearly aimed at fluent English-Spanish billinguals. It isn't just 2 word thank you or good morning phrases. There's entire paragraphs in the protagonist's inner monologue in Spanish that cements his ravaged self-guilt. I would say this book is far more comparable to Guillermo del Toro's film The shape of water.
