‘The Dream of Oengus’, a nice easy short one. And rather romantic. I love the transformations from human to animal and back that continue throughout these stories

I struggled with ‘The Destruction of Da Derga’s Hostel’, which is why I’d put this collection down for a while. After reading the introduction, which gives an overview of the history of Irish storytelling as an oral tradition rather than written, my difficulty with reading this story reflects that. However, I can appreciate how interesting it would be to listen to with its repetition.
