The writing is so trite. The first person pov narrative style is NOT working in the story's favor, and it doesn't help that Viktor is simply so bland. Maybe I went in expecting too much. This is supposed to be seminal work, but apart from a handful of inspiring passages this book is giving me nothing.

Yeah, these parts were definitely very heavily edited because the amount of ecomiums about Christianity and the anti-islam rhetoric coming from the Creature of all people is glaringly obvious lol. How much is Shelley, how much an external editor, a censor? I guess we'll never know.
