Wowowow. I’m in love with the way Isherwood takes such care describing George and the ways in which he has to mask himself and his queerness. His writing is so meticulous and zoomed-in. The extended metaphor that life is a play and “George” is created to appease the outside world is absolute genius and so deeply moving in the context of queerness.
