Ah Sadie! The war has made a woman of her. She’s so dependable and wise. I’m so glad David felt he could turn to her. One of my favorite things about this series is how subtly it explores how the war changed both individuals and society. Life is such a mysterious process of incorporating both the good and the bad to make us each who we are.
