"'Why doesn't anyone love me?'"

Dara asks Nicole this after telling her that Parker had broken up with her on Valentine's Day.

"I try not to look o long in the mirror---funny how I used to like to look at myself..." (Oliver, 115)

Dara talks about not liking to look at her face in the mirror anymore because when she recovered from the accident she was left with scars on her face, which only reminded her of it.

"You owe me, I write. Big-time". (Oliver,93)

Nicole sends this text to her sister Dara after taking the blame for her sneaking out to go to a party at The Drink. They aren't allowed to go out after the accident they were in together.

"The funny thing is that Dara and I do look a like, mostly--and yet, everywhere she's delicate and well-made and pretty, I'm lumpy and plain". (Oliver, 65)

Nicole is talking about how much her and her sister look alike and how in a way they are so much the same, but also so different.

"I don't know what we were doing there. I don't remember why we crashed, or how". (Oliver, 45)

This line in the book was Nicole passing by the streets where she had gotten into a car accident with her sister and she hasn't been there since then and the memories are replaying in her head.

"Once upon a time we laughed together about Dad's girlfriend, and Dara would have made up a mean code name so we could refer to her without her knowing" (Oliver, 30)

I chose this quote because I remember when my parents first separated my Dad soon after got into a relationship with this younger woman and my sister and I would always make fun of both of them because it was odd for them to be together.
