Blah blah blah. The twists don't make sense, and I frankly don't care. They are so unimportant to the story, and don't align with any of the characters' values. Like it doesn't matter.

Things seem to be going in a very similar direction as "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo"...but it's fine? The drama isn't drama, it's plot. There's no investment into the characters because so much of the "trauma" happens in the beginning. Also, Darby isn't a very likable character because she's so naive and whiny.

This is basically "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo," but interestingly enough, this book was published first. However, apparently two authors were thinking very similarly at the same time, because one was released in 2016, and one was released in 2017 a couple months after. Though this is more consistent timeline wise, it lacks the glamour of Jenkins Reid's novel.

So far, so good! It’s very similar to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, but I like that Rose, a similar character to Monique Grant, is more fleshed out. I think it’s because every chapter switches back and forth between 1952 and 2016, keeping both timelines consistent.
