Maybe spoilers?
After reading over 100 pages i just realized -or at least this is what i THINK is happening- is that Richard is either being interogated or interviewed. At first i thought he was just explaining to the reader how he knows everyone, but after some reading it seems more like he's explaining the events that lead up to Bunny's murder to someone.
