This has two Christmas stories mixed in with the other short stories so I read those first. Tis the season for Christmas wonder! Pilcher is brilliant at developing fully created characters even in a short story.

It would be interesting to go through all of Pilcher’s books and take note of how many times she describes someone peeling potatoes in the kitchen. Real Life.
